KVS Admissions 2026-27: Comprehensive Schedule and Guidelines Released
The Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS), headquartered in New Delhi, has officially issued detailed instructions for fresh admissions for the upcoming academic session 2026-27. This announcement outlines a structured process for both online and offline registrations, continuing the established practices from previous years while incorporating specific updates for new and existing schools.
Online Registration for Class I and Balvatika
The registration process for Class I and Balvatika-1 and 3, where applicable, will commence at 10:00 am on March 20, 2026, exclusively through the KVS online portal. This online window will remain open until April 2, 2026, providing parents and guardians a defined period to complete applications. The instructions have been disseminated in both Hindi and English mediums to ensure widespread accessibility and clarity.
Offline Admissions for Higher Classes
For admissions to Classes II onwards, the process will be conducted strictly in offline mode, subject to the availability of vacancies. The offline registration period is scheduled from April 2, 2026, to April 8, 2026, with applications to be submitted directly to the respective Kendriya Vidyalaya Principals. This includes admissions for Balvatika-2 and 3 in schools where online admission is not offered, as well as for all classes except Class XI.
Eligibility Criteria and Age Requirements
Admission to Class I requires the child to be a minimum of 6 years old as of March 31, 2026. For Balvatika admissions, the age criteria are as follows:
- Balvatika-1: 3 to 4 years as of March 31, 2026
- Balvatika-2: 4 to 5 years as of March 31, 2026
- Balvatika-3: 5 to 6 years as of March 31, 2026
In Kendriya Vidyalayas where Balvatika-3 is operational, students will be directly admitted to Class I. All admissions will adhere to the KVS Admission Guidelines 2026-27, which include reservation criteria and other regulatory provisions.
Special Provisions for New and Existing Schools
For newly opened Kendriya Vidyalayas commencing operations from April 1, 2026, admissions for Balvatika and Class I will be conducted online, while Classes II to V will follow offline procedures. In existing KVs where new sections are added, offline admission processes for Class I will run concurrently with the online system to accommodate increased capacity.
Document Verification and Publicity Measures
KVS has mandated rigorous verification of documents to prevent fraudulent admissions. Principals are directed to scrutinize certificates including:
- Date of birth certificates
- Service certificates
- Address proof
- Caste certificates
- Disability certificates
Past instances of fake documents have led to admission cancellations, underscoring the importance of this step. Additionally, Regional Offices will ensure publicity through newspapers, local language publications, websites, social media, and school notice boards. Vacancy positions for Class II and above will be displayed prior to the offline admission process.
Class Commencement and Additional Provisions
Balvatika classes and fresh Class I sections will begin from April 20, 2026, while other classes will commence from April 1, 2026. Fresh admissions will be permitted only if the class strength remains below 40 students. For the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) category, valid documents include colour-coded ration cards, particularly in states where Below Poverty Line (BPL) cards are not issued.
Important Note: Requests for transfers between Kendriya Vidyalayas during the academic year will not be entertained, except in cases involving government employee transfers, maintaining the integrity of the admission cycle.
