Maharashtra Board Cancels Recognition of 107 Exam Centers Over Cheating Cases
Maharashtra Cancels 107 Exam Centers Over Cheating

The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education has taken strong action against examination malpractices. Officials have cancelled the recognition of 107 examination centers across the state. These centers faced action because authorities detected copying and other irregularities during last year's board examinations.

Division-Wise Breakdown of Affected Centers

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar division recorded the highest number of problematic centers. This division includes Jalna, Parbhani, Hingoli, Beed and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar districts. It accounts for 28 out of the 107 centers where recognition has been withdrawn.

Other divisions also show significant numbers. Pune division follows with 19 centers facing action. Nagpur division has 17 centers on the list. Latur division accounts for 15 centers where recognition has been cancelled.

Additional Division Details

Mumbai, Amravati and Nashik divisions each have six centers where recognition has been revoked. Authorities found no centers in violation within the Kolhapur and Konkan divisions. This indicates regional variations in examination malpractice incidents.

Class-Wise Distribution of Centers

The board has provided specific data about which classes were affected. Among the 107 centers, 31 were Secondary School Certificate examination centers. These centers conducted Class 10 board exams. The remaining 76 centers were Higher Secondary Certificate examination centers. These centers handled Class 12 board examinations.

Official Statement on the Action

MSBSHSE Chairman Dr Trigun Kulkarni explained the board's decision. He stated that the action followed notifications issued last year. These notifications were part of the copy-free exam campaign launched by the state board.

Dr Kulkarni emphasized that this move will not disrupt examination arrangements. He assured students and parents that sufficient exam centers remain available. The board has more than enough centers to conduct SSC and HSC examinations smoothly.

"All exam centers received clear notifications last year," Dr Kulkarni said. "We informed them that if copying cases were detected during board exams, their recognition would be cancelled. This action follows through on that warning."

Continuation of Anti-Copying Measures

The copy-free exam campaign will continue for upcoming examinations. Dr Kulkarni confirmed that authorities have already formed a state-level vigilance committee. This committee will ensure effective implementation of anti-copying measures.

Despite strict measures last year, officials recorded 445 cheating cases during Maharashtra State Board examinations. More than 55 percent of these cases came from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar division. This division reported 245 cheating incidents alone.

Upcoming Examination Schedule

The board has announced examination dates for 2026. Higher Secondary Certificate written exams will run from February 10 to March 18. Secondary School Certificate written exams are scheduled from February 20 to March 18.

Maharashtra launched its copy-free exam campaign in 2023. Authorities have been strengthening this initiative every year. They continue to introduce newer measures to prevent examination malpractices.

This decisive action against 107 centers sends a clear message. The Maharashtra State Board remains committed to maintaining examination integrity. Students can expect continued vigilance during upcoming board exams.
