Maharashtra HSC Exams 2026 Commence with Record Participation and Rigorous Security
The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) is set to launch the highly anticipated Class 12 board examinations, commonly known as the HSC exams, starting from February 10, 2026. This year, the educational landscape witnesses a massive turnout, with more than 13 lakh students registered to appear for these crucial assessments. The exams will be conducted across an extensive network of 3,387 centers, utilizing a total of 61,484 classrooms to accommodate the vast number of candidates.
Enhanced Surveillance and Strict Measures to Ensure Fairness
In a significant move to uphold integrity and prevent malpractice, the board has implemented robust security protocols. Over 85 per cent of the examination classrooms are equipped with CCTV surveillance, providing continuous monitoring to deter any irregularities. Additionally, special inspection teams have been deployed at centers identified as high-risk for malpractice, with strict warnings issued to schools about severe consequences for any violations. These measures underscore the board's commitment to maintaining a transparent and equitable examination environment.
Traffic Assistance Initiatives for Smooth Commute
Recognizing the challenges students face in reaching exam centers on time, the Thane traffic police have launched a proactive initiative to facilitate hassle-free travel. With 223 centers for Class 10 and 126 centers for Class 12 spread across zones 1 to 5 of the Thane Police Commissionerate, the department has deployed 64 motorcycle riders to assist students. These riders are tasked with helping those experiencing vehicle breakdowns, sudden traffic congestion, or other road-related delays. Furthermore, three specialized vehicles are stationed at the control room to respond to emergencies, and helpline numbers, including a traffic control WhatsApp number, have been issued for quick assistance.
Comprehensive Exam Day Guidelines for Students
To ensure a smooth examination process, students must adhere to several important guidelines:
- Punctuality is Paramount: Candidates must arrive at their exam centers on time, as late entry will not be permitted. It is mandatory for students to be seated at least 30 minutes before the exam begins.
- Essential Documents: A hard copy of the admit card is required for entry into the examination hall. Without it, students will not be allowed to participate.
- Proper Attire: Students are expected to wear their school uniform and carry a school ID card to verify their identity.
- Stationery Requirements: It is advised that students bring their own pens (both black and blue), a scale, a pencil, an eraser, and a sharpener to avoid any last-minute issues.
- Question Paper Distribution: Continuing from the previous year, question papers will not be distributed early. Instead, students will be granted an additional 10 minutes at the end of the exam to read through the paper thoroughly.

Understanding the pressure associated with board exams, the MSBSHSE has established helplines staffed by professional counsellors to provide emotional and psychological support to students. Additionally, divisional offices have shared contact details of teachers to assist with academic doubts, ensuring that learners have access to reliable guidance. Students are strongly advised to rely solely on the board's official social media pages for updates and to steer clear of online rumours that may cause unnecessary anxiety.
Reflecting on Past Performance: HSC 2025 Insights
Looking back at the previous year's results, HSC students in 2025 achieved an impressive pass percentage of 91.88. Regional variations were notable, with the Konkan region leading at 96.74 per cent, while Latur recorded the lowest at 89.46 per cent. Stream-wise performance highlighted the science stream as the top performer with a 97.35 per cent pass rate, followed by commerce at 92.68 per cent, vocational at 83.26 per cent, and arts at 80.52 per cent. Out of 1,427,085 registered students, 1,417,969 appeared for the exams, and 1,302,873 successfully passed, demonstrating the overall effectiveness of the board's educational framework.
The Maharashtra SSC exams for Class 10 are scheduled to commence from February 20, 2026, further extending the board's rigorous examination schedule. With these comprehensive preparations in place, the MSBSHSE aims to deliver a seamless and fair assessment experience for all students involved.
