Mathura School Principal Cleared of Religious Coercion Charges After Official Inquiry

Mathura Basic Shiksha Adhikari (BSA) Ratan Kirti confirmed the decision, stating that based on the probe findings, Jaan Mohammed's suspension has been revoked. Formal orders have been issued for his reinstatement, and he will now be given a fresh school posting via an online transfer system. The inquiry committee conducted a physical inspection of the school on February 4, during which statements were taken from students, parents, teachers, and all others present. Written evidence was also obtained, and none of the allegations against the principal were found to be proven.

The controversy began on January 30 when Durgesh Pradhan, a local BJP leader, complained against Jaan Mohammed, alleging that he did not allow the singing of the national anthem in school and motivated students towards his religion. A day later, the principal was placed under suspension with "immediate effect," and a probe panel was set up to look into the matter within 30 days.

In the meantime, protests erupted in Mathura in support of the principal. A group of local residents, along with parents, met Mathura District Magistrate CP Singh and demanded his reinstatement. Amid mounting pressure, the time limit for the probe was reduced to three days, leading to a swift resolution of the case.

Following the decision, Jaan Mohammed expressed his gratitude to those who supported him, stating that all allegations were baseless and he was confident of being cleared. He highlighted his background, having served in the Border Security Force (BSF) for 10 years before joining the teaching profession, and emphasized the importance of the national anthem and the tricolour to him.
