Congress MP Varsha Gaikwad on Thursday launched a nationwide campaign called 'Chhatron Ki Goonj' to protest against recurring exam paper leaks. The movement, running from June 25 to August 9, will cover 28 cities across 28 states, starting from Bengaluru.
Campaign details and scope
Addressing a press conference in Bengaluru, Gaikwad stated that the initiative aims to raise awareness and pressure authorities to address the issue of paper leaks that have affected thousands of students. The campaign will include student rallies, seminars, and meetings with education officials in each city.
Gaikwad said, 'The repeated paper leaks have shattered the trust of students in the examination system. Through Chhatron Ki Goonj, we want to amplify their voices and demand strict action against those responsible.' The campaign will conclude with a major event in New Delhi on August 9.
Impact and response
According to Gaikwad, over 10,000 students have been affected by paper leaks in the past year alone, leading to exam cancellations and delays in academic calendars. She called for a central law to prevent such incidents and ensure timely justice. The Congress party has also planned to submit a memorandum to the Ministry of Education.
The opposition party has criticized the current government for failing to curb the menace, citing multiple cases in states like Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Uttar Pradesh. Gaikwad urged students from all backgrounds to join the movement, emphasizing that it is non-political and focused solely on student welfare.
