Millerganj's School of Eminence Set to Transform Public Education in Ludhiana
The industrial hub of Millerganj in Ludhiana is poised to become a shining example of educational excellence as the district prepares to launch its latest School of Eminence (SOE). This cutting-edge facility, designed to accommodate 323 students from Classes IX to XII, is being celebrated by officials as one of the most advanced educational infrastructures in Punjab. Following a comprehensive final progress review, Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain confirmed that the state-of-the-art campus is fully prepared for its grand inauguration in the near future.
State-of-the-Art Academic Infrastructure
Spanning across 21 modern and well-designed rooms, the SOE Millerganj represents a significant shift away from traditional classroom models toward a high-tech, specialized learning environment. The academic infrastructure includes specialized laboratories, smart classrooms, and premium finishes that enhance the educational experience. There are seven cutting-edge laboratories dedicated to physics, chemistry, biology, robotics and automation technology (ROT), construction, and apparel studies. Additionally, the school features 10 spacious instructional areas complemented by a modern, well-stocked library.
The Public Works Department (PWD) has been instructed to ensure premium tile finishing and high-quality aluminum storage systems in all laboratories, fostering an organized and conducive learning atmosphere. This attention to detail underscores the commitment to providing students with top-tier resources for their academic pursuits.
Holistic Wellness and Sports Facilities
Beyond academics, the School of Eminence introduces unconventional sports facilities aimed at the all-round development of its students. A terrace badminton court utilizes vertical space for outdoor activity, while a dedicated indoor area is available for table tennis. The campus also includes a wellness centre, a serene space specifically designed for yoga and meditation, promoting mental and physical well-being among students.
To streamline traffic management and ensure student safety, the campus features a newly sanctioned, organized parking zone. This move has been approved to enhance campus efficiency and provide a secure environment for all attendees.
Expanding the 'Eminence' Network Across Ludhiana
Millerganj is part of a broader provincial overhaul of the education sector in Punjab. In total, 16 senior secondary schools in Ludhiana have been selected for upgradation under the School of Eminence scheme. Other operational or upcoming SOEs in the district include:
- Urban hubs in Model Town, Jawahar Nagar, Indrapuri, and Bharat Nagar (Girls)
- Regional centres at Doraha, Sahnewal, Samrala, and Khanna (Kishori Lal Jethi)
- Specialised sites at Mundian Kalan, Sekhewal, Baddowal Cantt, and Division No. 3 (Girls)
Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain expressed confidence in the project, stating, "SOE Millerganj is expected to become a statewide model for excellence in school infrastructure and holistic development." This initiative reflects a concerted effort to elevate public education standards and provide students with unparalleled opportunities for growth and learning.
