NSUI Activists Lock Gujarat University Offices in Ahmedabad Over Staff Absenteeism

The National Students' Union of India (NSUI) staged a dramatic protest on Friday by locking the offices of Gujarat University officials in Ahmedabad. This action was taken to highlight what they describe as habitual late arrival and absenteeism among university staff and officers, which has reportedly been ongoing for several months.

Months of Ignored Complaints Lead to Direct Action

According to NSUI representatives, repeated complaints about the issue were consistently ignored by the university administration. In a recent attempt to document the problem, NSUI members recorded a video around 11 am, showing empty offices in the university tower. Despite this footage being made public, no corrective measures were taken by the authorities.

Frustrated by the lack of response, the protesters escalated their agitation by implementing a "lockdown" of the administrative offices. They accused employees of fostering a work-avoidance culture that negatively impacts both students and the overall administrative functioning of the institution.

Plans for Higher-Level Intervention

In response to the continued inaction, NSUI has announced plans to approach the Governor of Gujarat and the State Education Minister. They are seeking strict disciplinary action to ensure greater accountability and improved work ethics within the university administration.

The protest underscores growing student dissatisfaction with administrative inefficiencies at Gujarat University, calling for immediate reforms to uphold academic standards and operational integrity.
