Punjab Schools to Honour Sahibzadas with 3-Day Educational Programme
Punjab Schools to Host Sessions on Sahibzadas from Dec 22

The Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) has announced a significant three-day educational initiative to honour the legacy of the Sahibzadas, the revered sons of the tenth Sikh Guru, Guru Gobind Singh Ji. The programme is scheduled to take place across all schools in the state from December 22 to December 24, 2025.

State-Wide Programme to Instil Historical Values

State Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains made the announcement, directing the PSEB to ensure the programme's implementation in every educational institution. This includes government schools, private schools, and aided schools. The core activity will be a dedicated 15-minute session held during the daily morning assembly over the three days.

The sessions are meticulously designed to educate students about the life and supreme sacrifice of the four Sahibzadas: Baba Ajit Singh Ji, Baba Jujhar Singh Ji, Baba Zorawar Singh Ji, and Baba Fateh Singh Ji. The curriculum aims to immerse young minds in this pivotal chapter of Sikh history, covering events from Guru Gobind Singh's departure from Qila Anandgarh Sahib to the tragic episode of Saka Sirhind.

SGPC to Ensure Authenticity of Study Material

A key aspect of this initiative is the emphasis on historical accuracy and reverence. Minister Bains has instructed PSEB officials to prepare the pedagogical material with utmost care. Furthermore, all content will be duly vetted by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) before being presented to students. This step is taken to guarantee the authenticity of the historical narratives shared with the schoolchildren.

Beyond the daily school assemblies, the PSEB headquarters will host complementary events on the same dates. These will include spiritual and historical discourses, as well as a Kirtan Darbar performed by school students. The collective aim is to forge a deep, emotional connection between Punjab's youth and the valour and sacrifices of their forebears.

Education Minister on Building Character Through History

Highlighting the broader vision behind the programme, Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains stated that true education extends beyond academic textbooks. He emphasised its role in building character and connecting future generations to their cultural roots. "The three-day educational program on the Sahibzadas is a step to honour supreme sacrifice and instill the timeless values of courage, righteousness and resilience in every student of Punjab," Bains said.

This state-mandated observance underscores the government's commitment to integrating lessons of bravery and moral fortitude from Punjab's rich history into the modern educational framework. It seeks to ensure that the legacy of the Sahibzadas continues to inspire and guide the youth of the state.
