SIO Telangana Urges Government to Prioritize Education and Student Welfare in 2026-27 Budget
SIO Telangana Calls for Education Focus in State Budget

SIO Telangana Advocates for Education and Student Welfare in State Budget

The Students Islamic Organisation (SIO) of Telangana has issued a strong appeal to the state government, urging it to prioritize education, student welfare, and youth development as key focus areas in the upcoming state budget for the fiscal year 2026-27. The organisation has called for decisive policy measures to address critical structural gaps within the education sector, emphasizing the need for immediate action to support students across the region.

Concerns Over Scholarship Disbursement Delays

SIO Telangana has expressed serious concern regarding the persistent delays in the disbursement of scholarships under the Tuition Fee Reimbursement (RTF) and Maintenance Fee (MTF) schemes. These delays continue to impact thousands of students throughout Telangana, potentially disrupting their academic progress and financial stability. The organisation has urged the government to release all pending scholarship dues without further delay and to establish a transparent, time-bound mechanism for fund disbursement to ensure that students can continue their education without hindrance.

Mohd Faraz Ahmed, president of SIO Telangana, stated, "The government must ensure that the funds allocated for education and minority welfare are fully utilised in a transparent and timely manner. Delays in scholarship disbursement and unfilled teaching posts directly affect the educational prospects of thousands of students across Telangana."

Demands for Educational Equity and Implementation of RTE Act

In a push for greater educational equity, SIO Telangana has demanded the effective implementation of the Right To Education (RTE) Act, which mandates a 25% reservation for disadvantaged children in private schools. The organisation highlighted that this provision is crucial for ensuring access to quality education for all segments of society, particularly those from marginalized backgrounds.

Additionally, SIO Telangana pointed out that a significant portion of the current education budget is allocated towards salaries, leaving limited resources for essential areas such as:

  • Teacher training and professional development
  • Academic innovation and curriculum enhancement
  • Institutional strengthening and infrastructure improvements

The organisation recommended a more balanced expenditure approach that focuses not only on salary payments but also on improving the overall quality of teaching, infrastructure, and learning outcomes within the state's education system.

Transparency in Minority Welfare Budget Utilisation

On the issue of minority welfare, SIO Telangana called for the transparent and efficient utilisation of the minority welfare budget. The organisation noted that several educational schemes designed for minority students are facing delays due to slow fund releases and administrative bottlenecks. Ensuring that these funds are disbursed promptly and effectively is vital for supporting the educational aspirations of minority communities in Telangana.

By addressing these concerns, SIO Telangana aims to foster a more inclusive and robust educational environment that benefits all students, regardless of their socio-economic background.
