The Institute of Cost Accountants of India (ICMAI) officially announced the results for its final and intermediate examinations on Wednesday, with students from Surat demonstrating exceptional academic prowess and securing a remarkable number of top ranks nationwide.

Top Rank Achievements in Final and Intermediate Exams

In the final examination, Deshna Jain achieved an impressive All India Rank (AIR) of 5, showcasing her dedication and skill. The intermediate examination saw equally brilliant performances, with Deep Gajera securing AIR-5 and Lokesh Patil claiming AIR-6, highlighting the competitive spirit and talent among Surat's aspiring cost accountants.

Surat's Strong Presence in Top-50 Rank Lists

Surat students made a significant mark across both examination levels. In the final exam, four students from the city featured in the Top-50 rank list:

  • Palak Agrawal (Rank 17)
  • Pratik Valeja (Rank 30)
  • Harsh Shah (Rank 35)

The intermediate course results were even more impressive, with 14 Surat students securing ranks in the Top-50. This brings the city's total tally to an outstanding 18 ranks across both the final and intermediate levels, underscoring Surat's growing reputation as a hub for academic excellence in cost accountancy.

Insights from Top Performer Deshna Jain

Deshna Jain, who is currently pursuing a BCom degree at SD Jain College and completed her schooling at Hill's High School, shared her success strategy. She emphasized that "consistency, online classes, and dedicated efforts" were key factors in achieving her top rank. Looking ahead, Jain plans to gain valuable work experience before embarking on her own entrepreneurial venture, demonstrating a forward-thinking approach to her career.

Examination Statistics and Pass Percentages

According to CMA Surat South Gujarat Chapter chairman Kishore Vaghela, the examination participation and success rates provide further context to these achievements. In the intermediate exam, 863 students appeared, with 155 clearing both groups and 133 passing one group. For the final exam, 199 students appeared, resulting in 48 clearing both groups and 19 passing one group.

The overall pass percentages stood at 24% for the final examination and 18% for the intermediate examination, highlighting the challenging nature of these tests and making the accomplishments of Surat students even more commendable.
