UPSC CSE 2026: Commission Extends Call Centre Operation Facility for Aspirants

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has announced a significant extension of its call centre operation facility for candidates preparing for the Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2026 and the Indian Forest Service (IFoS) Examination 2026. This strategic move aims to provide enhanced support and comprehensive guidance to aspirants throughout the ongoing application process, ensuring greater ease and convenience during this critical phase of their career journey.

Extended Operational Hours and Enhanced Accessibility

The call centre will now remain open every single day, including Saturdays, Sundays, and all public holidays, until the application process for both the CSE 2026 and IFoS 2026 examinations officially concludes. This unprecedented accessibility ensures that candidates can seek assistance without time constraints, accommodating various schedules and time zones across the country.

The facility will operate in two dedicated shifts, from 7:00 AM to 9:00 PM daily, providing a substantial 14-hour window for candidates to access professional guidance. This extended schedule goes far beyond standard working hours, demonstrating the Commission's commitment to supporting aspirants during evenings and weekends when many candidates are most available to address their queries.

Commission's Commitment to Aspirant Support

UPSC Chairman Dr. Ajay Kumar emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating, "The extended call centre operations are part of a comprehensive series of measures being undertaken to support aspirants throughout their examination journey. These proactive steps are specifically aimed at facilitating candidates and ensuring that all necessary support mechanisms are firmly in place to assist them during this important phase."

Furthermore, the Commission has substantially increased the capacity of the call centre, effectively doubling its resources to significantly reduce waiting times for applicants seeking guidance on the application process or examination-related queries. This capacity enhancement represents a strategic investment in improving communication channels with candidates, ensuring faster resolution of concerns, and providing uninterrupted support during this crucial stage of the examination cycle.

Application Details and Vacancy Information

Meanwhile, the Union Public Service Commission has officially released the detailed notification for the Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2026. Candidates can submit their applications online through the official UPSC portal at upsc.gov.in, with the final deadline for applications set for February 24, 2026.

This nationwide recruitment drive aims to select qualified candidates for prestigious positions including the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), Indian Revenue Service (IRS), and various other Group A and Group B services that form the backbone of India's administrative framework.

According to the official notice, the UPSC CSE 2026 recruitment will fill a total of 933 vacancies across various services. This represents a slight decrease from the previous year's 979 vacancies offered for CSE 2025, and a more substantial reduction from the 1,105 vacancies filled during the 2024 examination cycle.

Reservation for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities

The total vacancy count includes specific reservations for Persons with Benchmark Disability categories, reflecting the Commission's commitment to inclusive recruitment practices. Among the 933 total vacancies, 33 positions are specifically reserved for candidates with disabilities.

The disability category breakdown includes:

  • Seven vacancies reserved for candidates with blindness and low vision
  • Eleven vacancies allocated for deaf and hard of hearing candidates
  • Eight vacancies for those with locomotor disabilities, including cerebral palsy, leprosy cured individuals, dwarfism, acid attack victims, and muscular dystrophy
  • Seven vacancies designated for candidates with multiple disabilities

This initiative underscores the Commission's ongoing commitment to building an examination system that is not only efficient and responsive but also genuinely student-focused and inclusive. By extending call centre operations and enhancing support mechanisms, the UPSC continues to demonstrate its dedication to facilitating aspirants' journeys toward public service careers.
