In a significant push to enhance digital skills among India's youth, Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) has officially announced the opening of the application window for a fresh batch of short-term, skill-based programmes. The courses, focusing on high-demand areas like artificial intelligence and cyber security, are designed to bridge the skill gap and prepare learners for the modern job market.
Course Offerings and Key Details
The initiative is spearheaded by the university's Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE). The programmes are delivered through the Smart Academy for Digital Technologies and Entrepreneurship, an entity established in collaboration with the Tech Mahindra Foundation. This academy specialises in certificate-level courses aimed at building robust digital capabilities and entrepreneurial acumen.
The current roster features four intensive, three-month programmes. These are Digital Entrepreneurship, UI/UX Design, Advanced Digital Marketing, and AI-Driven Data Analysis. A key highlight is the accessible eligibility criterion: each course is open to candidates who have successfully passed their Class 12 or an equivalent examination.
The fee structure for these offline programmes varies. The Digital Entrepreneurship course is priced at Rs 3,050, while the UI/UX Design programme costs Rs 12,600. Both the Advanced Digital Marketing and AI-Driven Data Analysis courses carry a fee of Rs 10,500 each.
Blended Learning for Real-World Impact
According to the university's official statement, the pedagogy at the Smart Academy combines traditional classroom instruction with hands-on, applied training. This blended approach is meticulously designed to help participants not only grasp theoretical concepts but also gain practical exposure to prevailing industry practices. Guidance from seasoned subject matter experts is a core component of the learning experience.
The primary objective is to equip learners for immediate employment in various digital roles or to empower them to venture into self-employment and startup creation. The university emphasises that these programmes are tailored to help learners tap into opportunities in booming sectors like digital media, design, data analysis, and technology-enabled services.
Boosting India's Digital Ecosystem
This move by JMI is part of its broader, ongoing initiatives to support skill development among youth, aspiring entrepreneurs, and job seekers. The university stated that the initiative seeks to foster innovation and self-reliance by enabling participants to develop skills that are directly relevant to India's rapidly expanding digital and startup landscape.
By offering such industry-aligned, short-duration courses, JMI aims to make specialized education more accessible and directly contribute to creating a future-ready workforce capable of driving and thriving in the new-age economy.
