MBA Seats Vacant in Gujarat's Centres of Excellence, Third Round Considered
MBA Seats Vacant in Gujarat, Third Admission Round Planned

MBA Seats Remain Vacant in Gujarat's Centres of Excellence

In Ahmedabad, a significant number of MBA seats are still available across four Centres of Excellence in Gujarat, even after two rounds of admissions have been completed. This situation has prompted state authorities to actively consider organizing a third round of seat allotment to address the vacancies.

Admission Process and Registration Details

The state admission committee initiated the process to fill a total of 280 MBA seats through the Common Admission Test (CAT). Out of these, 214 seats were specifically reserved under the CAT quota, which represents 25% of the total intake capacity as officially announced by the participating institutions.

A substantial number of candidates showed interest, with 847 individuals registering for these CAT-based admissions. From this pool, 709 candidates participated in the group discussion and personal interview rounds conducted by the committee. Ultimately, 706 candidates were included in the final merit list prepared for seat allocation.

Current Status of Vacant Seats

The second round of seat allotment concluded on April 13, with candidates given until April 14 to confirm their admissions by paying the required fees. Despite the completion of both admission rounds, 98 seats across the four institutions remain unfilled, indicating a notable gap in the allocation process.

Proposal for Third Round of Admissions

Officials have indicated that the large number of vacant seats has led the committee to seriously consider conducting a third round of admissions. A formal proposal regarding this additional round was expected to be submitted to the state government for approval.

If approved, this third round would potentially offer the remaining seats to candidates who are lower in the CAT merit list, providing them with another opportunity for admission to these prestigious institutions.

Implications for MBA Education in Gujarat

The persistence of vacant seats in these Centres of Excellence raises questions about admission patterns and institutional capacity utilization. The consideration of a third round demonstrates the committee's commitment to maximizing seat occupancy while maintaining the quality standards of MBA education in the state.
