In a recent interview with PTI, Anu Malik expressed his confidence that the filmmakers would acknowledge his and lyricist Javed Akhtar's foundational work. The teaser for 'Border 2' was released just days ago, sparking conversations about the legacy song's recreation.
"I believe the song is recreated. I'm not a part of it," Malik stated. "I'm sure they will give my name to it as I've created the song. They should because people know about our contribution, they can't get away." He emphasized the inescapable link between the sequel and the original melody, asserting, "They can't make Border 2 without Sandese Aate Hai."
Details of the Musical Recreation
The recreation, titled 'Ghar Kab Aaoge', has been handled by composer Mithoon, with new lines penned by lyricist Manoj Muntashir. The song is scheduled to hit all major music platforms on January 2, serving as a major promotional piece for the film.
The vocal ensemble for this new version is a powerful blend of legendary and contemporary voices. Original singer Sonu Nigam returns, now sharing the microphone with Arijit Singh, Vishal Mishra, and Diljit Dosanjh. Malik praised this combination, calling Sonu Nigam "one of the best singers we have today" and Arijit Singh a "magical singer." He predicted the result would be "brilliant" and a "magical combination."
