Karthi's eagerly awaited film 'Vaa Vaathiyaar' has successfully overcome all legal challenges. The movie will now hit theatres on January 14 as scheduled. This development brings immense relief to both producers and fans who have been anticipating a Pongal treat.
Financial Dispute Reaches Court
The controversy began with a loan taken from Arjunlal Sunderdas. This financial matter eventually escalated into legal proceedings. A court-appointed administrator managing Arjunlal's assets filed a plea before the Madras High Court. The petition sought directions to recover Rs 21.78 crore, including interest, from producer Gnanavel Raja. It also urged the court to restrain the film's release until the dues were fully cleared.
Court Imposes Interim Stay
The Madras High Court responded to the plea by passing a temporary order. This order restrained the release of 'Vaa Vaathiyaar'. The court made it clear that the stay should not be lifted until the entire repayment was completed. The case came up for hearing before a bench led by Justice S.M. Subramaniam.
During the hearing, producers submitted a demand draft of Rs 3.75 crore. Justice Subramaniam acknowledged this partial payment. He stated that the film could be released for Pongal once the balance amount was settled within the stipulated time frame.
Full Settlement Achieved
Producers ultimately settled the entire pending amount of Rs 21.85 crore due to the administrator. This full payment resolved all allegations conclusively. With the loan completely settled, no legal obstacles or disputes remain regarding the film's release.
'Vaa Vaathiyaar' will now enjoy a smooth release on January 14. The film stars Karthi alongside heroine Krithi Shetty. Nalan Kumarasamy directs the project, with music composed by Santhosh Narayanan. The production has successfully navigated multiple legal and financial challenges to reach this point.
Fans can finally look forward to enjoying this cinematic offering during the Pongal festival. The resolution marks a significant victory for the film's team after weeks of uncertainty.
