Kriti Sanon Wraps 'Cocktail 2', Calls Shoot a 'Mad Ride' with Shahid Kapoor
Kriti Sanon Completes Filming for 'Cocktail 2'

Bollywood star Kriti Sanon has officially completed filming for her much-anticipated romantic comedy, 'Cocktail 2'. The actor expressed sheer delight at the project's lighthearted tone, a welcome change after her recent intense roles. Sanon described the overall atmosphere during the weeks of shooting as "happy, positive, fun," setting the stage for a breezy cinematic offering.

A Deliberate Shift to Lightness and Fun

In a recent conversation, Kriti Sanon revealed she was actively seeking a project like 'Cocktail 2'. This craving came after the emotional heaviness of her 2025 release, 'Tere Ishk Mein'. "I wanted to be in this light, fun, rom-com space," she stated, smiling. "Things fell in place at the right time." The film, directed by Homi Adajania, pairs her once again with Shahid Kapoor, following their successful collaboration in the 2024 hit 'Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya'. It also marks her first on-screen partnership with Rashmika Mandanna.

Sanon had high praise for director Homi Adajania's unique approach. "Homi has this fun energy and coolness that he brings to his characters and movies," she explained. She appreciated his focus on creating relatable, imperfect characters. "He does not want them to be perfect; he wants them to make mistakes and do things that real people do, and still be cool." This philosophy contributed to what Sanon called an "unpredictable and exciting" shoot, which she summarised as "an absolute mad ride."

Reflecting on a Rewarding 2025 and a Grey Character

While gearing up to open the 2026 cinematic year with 'Cocktail 2', Sanon also took a moment to look back at a successful 2025. Her sole release that year, Aanand L Rai's 'Tere Ishk Mein', achieved a significant milestone by crossing the Rs 100 crore mark at the box office in early December. For Sanon, the combination of critical praise and commercial success is the ultimate reward.

Although the film sparked debates for its portrayal of toxic love, Sanon holds a deep attachment to her character, Mukti. "Mukti has been one of my most layered characters to date," she reflected. She described the complexity as often unspoken, conveyed through implications and expressions. "That’s where the character can come across as grey. But the fact that she is flawed makes her relatable."

Reuniting with Kapoor: From Robot to Human

The actor also shared a humorous note about reuniting with co-star Shahid Kapoor. Joking about her robotic role in their previous film, she said, "It was amazing working with Shahid, since I was a human being this time." This dynamic shift promises a fresh chemistry for the audience in the upcoming romantic comedy.

With 'Cocktail 2' in the can, Kriti Sanon has successfully navigated from the deep emotional waters of 'Tere Ishk Mein' to the sunny shores of a rom-com, offering fans a diverse showcase of her acting range. The industry and audiences now eagerly await this blend of familiar faces and fresh fun under Homi Adajania's direction.
