Media personality Link Lauren did not hold back his criticism after watching clips from the 2026 Golden Globe Awards. He openly slammed the show and made it clear he had not watched a single nominated film this year. Lauren also called the ceremony "cringe" and "quite simply, not funny."
The 2026 Golden Globes Took Place in Los Angeles
The 2026 Golden Globes ceremony happened in Los Angeles on Sunday, January 11. The night celebrated big wins for films and actors, but Link Lauren chose to stay away from the event. Instead, he shared his blunt thoughts online and emphasized that the show no longer interests him.
Link Lauren Reacts on Social Media
After the ceremony, Link Lauren posted a direct message on X. He wrote, "I remember when I used to watch the #GoldenGlobes and other award shows. This year I don't think I've seen a single nominated film. The clips I've seen make me feel even better about that decision. The Golden Globes look cringe and, quite simply, not funny."
Later that same night, Lauren shared another post. This time, he talked about a film that actually excites him. He posted the trailer for a documentary about Melania Trump, released in December 2025, and wrote, "The Golden Globes are tonight and I haven't even turned on the TV. The only film I'm excited for this year is MELANIA."
Hamnet Wins Big at the Awards
Meanwhile, the film Hamnet had a strong night at the Golden Globes. It won Best Picture, Drama. Producer Steven Spielberg praised director Chloé Zhao during his acceptance speech. He said, "Sam Mendes sent me the book by Maggie O'Farrell, Hamnet, and I love the book. But I felt there was really only one filmmaker on the face of the planet who could tell this story, and that was the exceptional, exceptional, exceptional Chloe Zhao."
The film is based on Maggie O'Farrell's 2020 novel. It tells the story of William Shakespeare and Agnes Shakespeare after they lose their son, Hamnet, during a plague. That tragic loss later inspires the play Hamlet.
Released in November 2025, the film stars Paul Mescal and Jessie Buckley. Buckley won Best Actress – Drama and later spoke about being open as an artist. She said, "I see how strong and tender you all are, and how much of yourselves you share with the world. I salute your bravery and dedication."
Other Films Honored at the Ceremony
The awards also honored films like One Battle After Another, The Secret Agent, and KPop Demon Hunters. Actors Timothée Chalamet and Jessie Buckley took home major acting awards. Still, Lauren said none of it made him want to tune in.
His comments quickly caught attention on social media, as the Golden Globes continued to trend during and after the show. The documentary about Melania Trump, which Lauren mentioned, was directed by Brett Ratner. It is set to release on Friday, January 20.
