Indian Railways will launch the Darbhanga-Jaipur Amrit Bharat Express on June 26, 2026, providing a new direct connection between Bihar and Rajasthan. The train will cover approximately 1,400 kilometers in about 24 hours, with 18 scheduled halts.
Route and Major Stops
The train will depart from Darbhanga Junction and terminate at Jaipur. Key stations include Samastipur, Muzaffarpur, Hajipur, Patliputra, Ara, Buxar, Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Junction, Varanasi, Lucknow, Kanpur, Tundla, Agra Fort, and Jaipur.
According to railway officials, the train is designed to offer affordable travel with sleeper class and general coaches, similar to other Amrit Bharat Express services.
Timings and Frequency
The Darbhanga-Jaipur Amrit Bharat Express will run three days a week. It will depart Darbhanga at 6:00 AM on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, arriving in Jaipur the next morning at 6:00 AM. The return journey from Jaipur will depart at 8:00 PM on the same days, reaching Darbhanga at 8:00 PM the following day.
This schedule allows passengers to travel overnight and reach their destination in the morning or evening.
Key Features and Impact
The train will feature LHB coaches with improved amenities, including LED lights, mobile charging points, and enhanced toilet facilities. The fare is expected to be competitive, making it an economical option for long-distance travel.
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw stated, "This train will significantly boost connectivity between North and West India, benefiting students, workers, and pilgrims." The service is expected to reduce travel time by up to three hours compared to existing trains on this route.
The launch is part of the government's plan to introduce 50 Amrit Bharat Express trains by 2027, focusing on unreserved and sleeper class passengers.
