Rahu Ketu Censored, Reunites Fukrey Stars for Friday Debut

Rahu Ketu Clears Censor Hurdles with Specific Edits

The upcoming comedy film Rahu Ketu has successfully navigated the censorship process just in time for its theatrical release this Friday, January 16. The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) granted the movie a U/A 16+ certificate earlier this week, but not before requesting several modifications from the makers.

CBFC's Detailed Modifications for the Film

According to reports, the CBFC examined Rahu Ketu thoroughly and asked for specific changes. The board required the replacement of a particular dialogue in one scene. They also directed the filmmakers to swap out all visuals depicting drug sniffing and snorting with appropriate alternative shots.

In addition, whenever characters show the middle finger in the movie, the CBFC asked them to modify it to the pinky finger instead. The certification body further instructed the removal of all alcohol brand names visible in the film. These edits were necessary to secure the U/A rating.

Final Certification and Runtime Details

The filmmakers had to submit a verification letter for a Sanskrit shloka included in the movie. The Examining Committee also told them to replace the 'Kantara film music (voom) scream' with something else. After implementing all these changes, the producers of Rahu Ketu obtained their censor certificate on Monday, January 12.

The official certificate notes the film's runtime as 139.40 minutes. This translates to exactly 2 hours, 19 minutes, and 40 seconds of screen time for audiences.

Production Team and Cast Reunion

Rahu Ketu is produced by Umesh Kumar Bansal, Suraj Singh, and Varsha Kukreja. The film marks a welcome reunion for lead actors Pulkit Samrat and Varun Sharma, who previously worked together in the popular Fukrey series.

Vipul Vig makes his directorial debut with this project. Vig previously wrote the scripts for Fukrey (2013), Fukrey Returns (2017), and Fukrey 3 (2023), establishing his comedy credentials.

Pulkit Samrat Shares Insights About the Project

At recent entertainment events, Pulkit Samrat opened up about working with Varun Sharma again. He explained that since the first Fukrey film released, both actors have received numerous offers to collaborate on other projects.

"We get lots and lots of offers to do a film together," Samrat said. "And it really pains us because we get offered so much money. When we reject that much money, that's when we realize we are good people! We only value good work."

The actor emphasized their selective approach. "We were always very clear that if we both do a film together outside the Fukrey series, it has to be very interesting and a grade above Fukrey. That is where Rahu Ketu comes in. It's a very exciting and fantastical world with very exciting characters. The way the story unfolds is heartwarming."

The supporting cast includes Shalini Pandey, Piyush Mishra, Chunky Panday, Amit Sial, Manu Rishi Chadha, and Sumit Gulati alongside the two leads. With censorship formalities completed and the team excited about their project, Rahu Ketu prepares to hit theaters this Friday, offering audiences a new comedic experience from familiar faces.
