Riteish Deshmukh is a well-known name in Hindi cinema, but the actor once feared his debut film would also be his last. In an earlier interview, he opened up about the uncertainty he faced at the start of his career and how he gradually carved a niche for himself in the industry.
Debut Film Came with Uncertainty
Riteish began his acting journey with 'Tujhe Meri Kasam' in 2003. While the film introduced him to audiences, he admitted having little confidence about his longevity in the competitive film world. Reflecting on his early days during a conversation with IANS in 2019, he revealed that he never expected a long innings.
Speaking candidly, he said, "I thought 'Tujhe Meri Kasam' would be my first and last film. I never thought I would last so long in the industry. I am grateful for all the opportunities I have received."
Learning Through Every Phase
Deshmukh described his career as a journey filled with challenges, growth, and valuable lessons. According to him, every stage shaped him into a better performer. He said, "It was a roller-coaster ride with lots of ups and downs. Each phase taught me something. When I debuted, I didn't think I'd survive a decade, but I worked hard, did films, and tried to improve with each project."
This willingness to learn and adapt helped him stay relevant in an ever-evolving industry.
Comedy Became His Biggest Strength
Though Riteish explored different genres, comedy became his forte. His effortless comic timing and energetic screen presence earned him a loyal fan base. Films like 'Malamaal Weekly', 'Heyy Babyy', 'Dhamaal', 'Housefull', 'Double Dhamaal', 'Housefull 2' and 'Kyaa Super Kool Hain Hum' boosted his popularity.
In recent years, Riteish has taken on larger creative roles. His historical epic 'Raja Shivaji', released on May 1, 2026, marked a major milestone. He shows no signs of slowing down, with several high-profile projects lined up, including the much-anticipated 'Dhamaal 4', directed by Indra Kumar, featuring an ensemble cast of Ajay Devgn, Arshad Warsi, Riteish Deshmukh, and Jaaved Jaaferi.
