Thambi Ramaiah Clarifies Film Not Targeting Vijay

Thambi Ramaiah Addresses Controversy Over Upcoming Political Comedy Film

Veteran actor and writer Thambi Ramaiah has publicly responded to the growing controversy surrounding the upcoming Tamil film 'TN 2026 Thanga Natchathiram.' The political comedy, which stars Natarajan Subramaniam in the lead role and is directed by Umapathy Ramaiah (Thambi Ramaiah's son), faced allegations on social media following its teaser release that it indirectly targets actor Vijay and his political aspirations.

Film Is Not a Spoof or Parody, Says Thambi Ramaiah

Speaking at a press conference, Thambi Ramaiah categorically denied that the film is intended as a spoof or parody of any individual. "This is not a spoof film," he stated, as reported by Puthiya Thalaimurai. "It is about a mass hero who aims for political power even after gaining wealth and popularity." He emphasized that the movie's primary focus is on humor and entertainment rather than political criticism.

Thambi Ramaiah elaborated that the story was written with a political background but was carefully crafted to avoid hurting any person or group. "It is a fun entertainer with a lot of hilarious moments and strong repeat value," he added, noting that the film is packed with comedy scenes designed to create enjoyable theatre experiences. The veteran actor explained that his understanding of politics, stemming from his family's political exposure, informed the script.

Script Written Long Before Recent Political Events

Addressing speculation that the film was inspired by recent political developments, Thambi Ramaiah clarified that the script was written nearly a year ago, and filming was completed two months back. "The story of TN 2026 was written a year ago, and we finished the shoot two months back," he said. He acknowledged that some recent political events may seem similar to parts of the film but attributed this to pure coincidence.

Regarding Vijay's political journey, Thambi Ramaiah commented, "Thalapathy Vijay did not enter politics in just one night. SAC sir is equal to 100 MLAs." This remark was intended to highlight the extensive political background behind such decisions, underscoring that the film does not simplistically mirror real-life events.

Assurances of Respect and No Harm Intended

Thambi Ramaiah further assured that he holds great respect for Vijay, having worked with him in three films. "I have acted with Vijay in three movies, and many actors in this film have worked with him too," he noted. He also revealed that he maintains friendships across various political parties, including DMK, AIADMK, NTK, and TVK.

He made it clear that he would never create a film that harms anyone, especially since his own son is directing it. "I will never push my son's career into trouble," he asserted. Thambi Ramaiah guaranteed that there is not even a small scene in the movie that would hurt anyone's feelings and urged audiences to watch the film before forming judgments.

The actor-writer's statements aim to quell the controversy and position 'TN 2026 Thanga Natchathiram' as a lighthearted comedy meant for mass entertainment, devoid of malicious intent or personal attacks.
