Vikas Khanna hosts Ranveer-Deepika, celebrates modak & Dhurandhar

Celebrity chef Vikas Khanna recently turned hosts for Bollywood's power couple, Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone, at his celebrated New York restaurant, Bungalow. The intimate gathering, which took place towards the end of 2025, was a dual celebration, honouring a personal culinary first for Deepika and the monumental box office success of Ranveer's latest film.

A Night of Firsts and Festivities at Bungalow

Expressing his joy on social media, Vikas Khanna described the evening as a "blessed end to 2025" and a new beginning honouring India. The core of the celebration was focused on Deepika Padukone experiencing the art of making a modak for the very first time. A sweet dumpling deeply associated with Lord Ganesha and auspicious beginnings, the modak's preparation was a significant cultural moment.

In a shared video, Chef Khanna is seen guiding the actor couple through the process. Deepika can be observed carefully shaping the traditional sweet, while Ranveer watches on attentively. The chef later fed the freshly prepared modaks to the couple, adding a layer of warmth and symbolism to the occasion. "Team Bungalow had the privilege of celebrating with Ranveer & Deepika — her first modak," Vikas wrote, marking the special event.

Toasting to Dhurandhar's Record-Breaking Triumph

The evening also served as a victory toast for Ranveer Singh's cinematic juggernaut, 'Dhurandhar'. Vikas Khanna highlighted the film's phenomenal global performance, stating they were "celebrating DHURANDHAR — standing taller than any film in the world." Released on December 5, the film has achieved a staggering milestone, crossing the Rs 1100 crore mark in worldwide collections. This cements its position as one of the biggest box office hits of the year.

Extending the Auspicious Start to All Guests

In a gesture to share the blessings, Vikas Khanna announced that every guest dining at Bungalow that day was treated to special pomegranate and cardamom modaks. He explained that this was for an "auspicious beginning to 2026." Elaborating on the symbolism, he noted that modaks represent prosperity, wisdom, and blessings, while pomegranate is sacred for health and wellbeing.

The chef also shared a poignant personal detail, revealing he created the modaks using moulds recently acquired from Mumbai's Siddhivinayak Temple, standing before his parents' wedding picture. "I'm truly humbled," he added, connecting the event to his roots.

Meanwhile, Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone have been enjoying a year-end vacation in the United States. The couple was spotted with family in New York, and Deepika also attended a Backstreet Boys concert in Las Vegas with a friend. On the work front, while Ranveer basks in the success of 'Dhurandhar', Deepika, last seen in 'Fighter', 'Kalki 2898 AD', and 'Singham Again', has big projects lined up, including Shah Rukh Khan's 'King' and a film with Allu Arjun directed by Atlee.
