Couple Steals Rs 25 Lakh from Bengaluru Home

A family in Bengaluru learned a hard lesson after placing their trust in domestic workers from Nepal, resulting in the theft of Rs 25 lakh from their home. The incident occurred on May 27 when cash kept in a bedroom cupboard went missing.

Suspects Identified

The suspects have been identified as security guard Bhuvan Bista and domestic help Seeta Bista. According to the complaint filed by CH Subbareddy, a contractor, the couple had been employed at his house for the past month and resided in a room on the premises.

How the Theft Happened

Subbareddy had withdrawn large sums of cash from the bank over the previous 15-20 days to pay wages to laborers working for him. The complainant stated that he locked Rs 25 lakh inside a cupboard in the bedroom, with the key hidden beneath clothes in another cupboard. Seeta, who handled household chores such as sweeping and cleaning, had unrestricted access to all rooms and allegedly observed where the family kept the cash and cupboard keys.

According to the complainant, the couple stayed in the house with their children, behaved politely, and appeared trustworthy. On May 27, around 9 am, Subbareddy left for work while his wife remained at home. When he returned around 4 pm, the workers were nowhere to be found, and the door to their room was open. Suspicious, the couple checked the bedroom cupboard and discovered that the Rs 25 lakh cash was missing. Attempts to contact the workers failed as their mobile phones were switched off.

A case has been registered under BNS Section 306 at Amruthahally police station, and efforts are underway to apprehend the couple.

Woman Found Murdered, Gold Chain Missing

In a separate incident, a 23-year-old woman working with the Regional Transport Office (RTO) in Chikkaballapur was found murdered with her throat slit near her residence on Thursday night. The deceased was identified as B Pushpa, originally from Bengaluru. She had married a private company employee named Bharat three years ago and lived in a rented house near Kanadavarapete, police said.

The incident came to light when members of the public alerted police about a woman lying dead near the fort area. "The body was found around 1 km from her house. Her throat was slit, and her gold chain was missing," an investigating officer said, adding that they suspect someone known to her was involved in the crime.
