Gita Press Chairman Dies at 97

Gorakhpur: Keshoram Agarwal, chairman of the renowned Gita Press, passed away at the age of 97 in Kolkata on Tuesday morning. He breathed his last at 7.22 am, leaving behind a legacy of service to Sanatan Dharma and religious literature.

Condolence Meeting at Gita Press

A condolence meeting was organised at Gita Press in Gorakhpur, where trustees, employees and devotees paid tribute to the departed leader. The programme included a one-hour kirtan, while trustee Devidayal Agarwal highlighted Agarwal’s lifelong contribution to the institution and his commitment to spiritual values.

Gita Press manager Lalmani Tiwari said Agarwal had dedicated his life to preserving and promoting religious and cultural traditions. Known for his simplicity, humility and deep religious convictions, Agarwal earned respect across social and religious circles.

Last Rites in Kolkata

His last rites were performed at Keoratala Mahashmashan in Kolkata in the presence of a large gathering. Earlier, his mortal remains were taken to Govind Bhavan, where hundreds of people paid their final respects. He is survived by his sons Parikshit and Gaurang Agarwal, and daughters Meera Patwari and Brinda Agarwal.
