Ivanka Posts Wedding Photos, Mary Trump Criticizes Family

As Ivanka Trump posted photos of Donald Trump Jr.'s weekend wedding with Palm Beach socialite Bettina Anderson in the Bahamas, social media users noticed that her husband, Jared Kushner, who is reportedly involved in talks with Iran, was present at the ceremony. President Trump had earlier announced he would not attend the wedding, citing government obligations. “While I very much wanted to be with my son, Don Jr., and the newest member of the Trump Family, his soon-to-be wife, Bettina, circumstances pertaining to Government, and my love for the United States of America, do not allow me to do so,” his statement read.

President's Weekend Schedule

Over the weekend, a golf outing had been on President Trump’s schedule, with plans to travel to his New Jersey golf resort. However, that trip was later canceled, and Trump remained in Washington, D.C.

Mary Trump's Criticism

Donald Trump’s niece and outspoken critic, Mary Trump, recently asserted that the real reason the President skipped the wedding was not the Iran situation but his inability to love and be loved. Mary claimed that he harbors animosity toward his children. “Well, I don’t mean to be reductive, but this is essentially true: the reason we’re in this mess is because Donald never has been loved and, unfortunately, that is the thing he most wanted and still wants. But due to complicated circumstances—my grandfather actually, and my grandmother gets a little credit for this too—they made Donald somebody who desperately wants to be loved and who is utterly unlovable,” Mary said. “So it’s not even that Donald isn’t as loved as Colbert (Stephen); nobody loves him—nobody. And he knows it deep down. That’s where the rage and the jealousy come in.”

During a discussion with Dean Obeidallah, Mary noted that this was only Don Jr.’s second marriage, not his tenth, which might have warranted the father’s absence. However, she expressed no sympathy for her cousin. “Donnie is a horrible human being. He’s a little Nazi,” she said. “He is totally unaccomplished, and he’s a racist and a misogynist and just a terrible person. So don’t waste your time feeling bad for him.”
