Kevin McKidd, who recently departed from Grey's Anatomy, may soon find himself in another major franchise. The upcoming Harry Potter television series has been generating significant buzz for months, and while development is underway, many casting details remain undisclosed. This has sparked widespread speculation among fans, with McKidd's name frequently mentioned as a potential candidate for Arthur Weasley, the father of Ron Weasley. In a recent interview, the actor addressed these rumors in a characteristically humorous manner.

Kevin McKidd Responds to Harry Potter Casting Speculation

Many fans have wondered whether McKidd will trade Grey-Sloan Memorial Hospital for Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, McKidd said, "Never say never." He acknowledged seeing numerous online speculations about his potential casting as Arthur Weasley, with fans drawing comparisons between him and Mark Williams, who portrayed the character in the original film series. The rumors intensified after the actress cast as Ginny Weasley began following McKidd on social media. McKidd added, "I'm a massive Harry Potter fan," expressing openness to the possibility.

McKidd Reveals He Almost Joined the Original Harry Potter Films

During the same interview, McKidd shared a surprising revelation: he was nearly cast in the original Harry Potter film franchise but had to decline due to other commitments. He explained that he was waiting to learn if his show Journeyman would be renewed for a second season. "I was under contract, and [director] David Yates sent me a letter offering me a role in the final two Harry Potter films, and I was unable to do it because I was waiting to hear if Journeyman was picked up or not, and then it was not picked up," he said, noting that he missed a significant opportunity. "So I missed out on that chance of being in the final two Harry Potter films back in the day, which still makes me sad." He concluded by stating that if the current rumors materialize, he would be delighted and would love another "crack" at the role.
