As we rushed out of a shop with Michael Jackson to get to our limousines, we were met with a paparazzi and crowd scrum that had built up! Right in front of us was a very old lady who was about to get knocked over. Michael screamed at everyone to ‘STOP’ and reached out his hands to stop the old lady from being knocked over! To my surprise, everyone was so taken back by Michael’s actions they stayed still. Michael said to me, ‘Matt, she needs to come with us; there is no other way of keeping her safe.’ So we walked her into our limousine and asked for her address, and we took her home! The old lady was very nice and thanked us for taking her home and said we were very nice gentlemen! Michael sat next to her and kept her chatting, and we soon realized she had no idea she was talking to Michael Jackson or who the heck he was! Michael and her were chatting away about London and how it used to be. We dropped her home to her house and went back to the hotel. I wonder if she ever worked out that she was rescued by the most famous man in the world? Michael loved the fact she had no clue who he was and treated him normal. No questions about the moonwalk or Thriller! Michael put his own life at risk for this old lady, and we had a great laugh on the way home about how she had no clue why we were helping her. She kept saying we were nice gentlemen and how London used to be with the elderly. Had Michael not stopped the crowd, she would have been in serious trouble as people stormed to photograph or get a glimpse of Michael leaving the shop. And she was right in front of us. Funny story!
