On the 14th Passport Seva Divas, Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh extended his appreciation to all passport officials across India and at diplomatic missions abroad for their dedicated service and commitment to citizens. In a post on X, he emphasized that India's passport services have undergone a remarkable transformation, driven by technology and a citizen-centric approach.
Key Technological Advancements in Passport Services
Singh highlighted several key milestones in India's passport modernization journey. The introduction of e-Passports, which are chip-enabled and meet international security standards, has been a significant step forward. The Passport Seva Programme 2.0 (PSP V2.0) has been successfully operationalized domestically, while the Global Passport Seva Programme (GPSP V2.0) has been deployed at diplomatic missions worldwide to better serve the Indian diaspora.
The network of Passport Seva Kendras (PSKs) and Post Office Passport Seva Kendras (POPSKs) has been expanded, making services more accessible, efficient, and secure. Singh noted that these efforts are guided by Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of 'Minimum Government, Maximum Governance' and the ministry's commitment to placing citizens at the heart of service delivery.
Behind Every Passport Lies Dedicated Effort
Singh stated, 'Behind every passport issued lies the effort of countless officials working with dedication to help Indian citizens pursue opportunities, connect with loved ones and represent our nation across the world.' He underscored the commitment to providing passport services that are transparent, technology-driven, and responsive to the aspirations of every Indian citizen.
External Affairs Minister Jaishankar Also Hails Progress
Earlier, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar also marked the occasion, noting that the Passport Seva Divas commemorates the anniversary of the Passports Act of 1967 and serves as a reflection on the modernization of India's passport infrastructure. Jaishankar credited Prime Minister Modi's vision as the driving force behind the success of the Passport Seva Programme.
He affirmed that the Ministry of External Affairs has achieved significant digital milestones, including the successful rollout of chip-enabled e-Passports, which meet international standards for security and authentication. The deployment of PSP V2.0 and GPSP V2.0 has further enhanced service delivery both domestically and abroad.
