Producer Namit Malhotra Explains Delay
Producer Namit Malhotra has finally broken his silence on the unexpected postponement of the highly anticipated trailer for the upcoming epic film Ramayana, starring Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram and Yash as Ravana. In a recent interview, Malhotra revealed that the decision was driven by the need to perfect the visual effects and ensure the trailer aligns with the grand vision of the movie.
The trailer was originally scheduled to release in July 2026 but was pulled at the last minute, sparking widespread speculation among fans and industry insiders. Many wondered if creative differences or production issues were to blame. However, Malhotra clarified that the delay was purely technical.
VFX Quality Concerns
According to Malhotra, the filmmakers are leaving no stone unturned to deliver a visual spectacle that matches the scale of the mythological narrative. “We want the trailer to be a true representation of the film’s ambition. The VFX work is incredibly complex, and we didn’t want to compromise on quality,” he said. The movie is being produced with a budget that reflects its epic scope, and the team is collaborating with top international VFX studios.
Malhotra added that the extra time will allow the team to polish key sequences, including the battle scenes and the depiction of fantastical elements. “We owe it to the audience to present something they’ve never seen before. Ramayana is not just a film; it’s a cultural phenomenon,” he emphasized.
Star Cast and Release Plans
Apart from Ranbir Kapoor and Yash, the film boasts an ensemble cast including Alia Bhatt as Sita, and other prominent actors in pivotal roles. Directed by a yet-to-be-confirmed filmmaker, the project has been in development for several years. The trailer delay has not affected the planned theatrical release in 2027, Malhotra assured.
