Two events unfolded within days: a quarterback introduced a president, and a running back was arrested. Jaxson Dart, New York Giants quarterback, introduced US President Donald Trump at an event. Meanwhile, Josh Jacobs, Green Bay Packers running back, was arrested on five domestic abuse-related charges. Former NFL safety Ryan Clark chose to comment on Dart but stayed silent on Jacobs.
Ryan Clark's Remarks on Jaxson Dart
Ryan Clark, a former Washington Commanders safety, shared his views on Dart via social media. Clark captioned: "Jaxson Dart seems to be a good young man. He can support whoever he pleases, but that support affirms certain things to his locker room. Abdul Carter should have handled things differently, but his disappointment is understandable. The President clearly has picked a side, and standing next to him gives the impression that you have too. Which means you stand in direct opposition of the majority of your teammates. It's a conversation to be had behind closed doors, but it is an important conversation."
Silence on Josh Jacobs' Arrest
When news of Josh Jacobs' arrest for domestic violence broke, Clark reportedly did not comment. This discrepancy was highlighted by an X account called JVT, a former producer at The Blaze. JVT posted: "Has Ryan Clark discussed Josh Jacobs allegedly beating his girlfriend yet?"
Previously, Clark had shared a post about Jacobs from a year ago, when Jacobs discussed former NFL player Henry Ruggs III on Clark's podcast The Pivot. Clark's post read: "Josh Jacobs hopes Henry Ruggs III gets another chance to play in the NFL. The Packers RB is close to Ruggs, and he was supposed to go out with Ruggs the night Ruggs was arrested. If he had gone, Tina Tintor's death could have been avoided, and Ruggs could have been free." That post garnered over a million views.
While Clark may be bound by policies not to comment on sensitive matters, fellow former Washington quarterback Robert Griffin III indirectly addressed the issue, tweeting: "Real men don't hit women."
