Tom Brady, the seven-time Super Bowl champion, has always expressed pride in his three children. However, the NFL legend has also spoken about his regrets over missing time with them due to his career focus.
Tom Brady's Comments on Fatherhood Move Fans
In the ESPN documentary Man in the Arena: Tom Brady, the former quarterback opened up about fatherhood. He said, "I've got a family that I'm a dad to some amazing children", visibly emotional as he added, "When I think about being a dad, I think about him because of what my dad meant to me, and I know I'm not as good a dad to my kids that my dad's been to me…"
This honest confession moved fans, who took to social media to share their thoughts. One fan posted, "Tom Brady has always been emotional. He expresses his emotions harder than most athletes. A 7 time Champion with a softness and good heart."
Another fan wrote, "I think he wasn't as good of a husband as he could have been. That's why he's not as good a father as he could have been."
A third fan noted, "No doubt. In whatever you do, to be the very best at it you have to give it your all, and make it your main priority. Tom Brady, and many others that truly were the best: athletes, musicians, actors, all did just that, putting the craft above all, even family. It's a trade off…"
Another fan remarked, "Yet would his kids say he was a good dad.. probably yes. His self awareness is admirable, yet I wish he would give himself some grace too. Win, lose, we're here to live & learn, so do it on one's own terms."
Tom Brady's Focus on Family After Retirement
