Turning Pain Into Purpose: A Journey of Resilience
Turning Pain Into Purpose: Resilience Journey

A Mother's Loss Becomes a Lifeline

After losing her son to a rare disease, Dr. Anjali Kumar turned her grief into a mission. She founded the Hope Foundation, which has raised over $2 million for research into pediatric cancers. 'I couldn't save my own child, but I can help save others,' she said.

The Power of Purpose

Dr. Kumar's journey began in 2015 when her son, Rohan, was diagnosed with a rare form of leukemia. Despite aggressive treatment, he passed away at age 7. 'The pain was unbearable,' she recalls. 'But I knew I had to channel it into something positive.'

Within a year, she launched the Hope Foundation, which funds research and provides support to families facing similar battles. The foundation has since funded 15 research projects and supported over 500 families.

From Grief to Action

'Grief can either consume you or transform you,' Dr. Kumar says. 'I chose transformation.' Her work has been recognized globally, including a 2023 award from the World Health Organization for her contributions to pediatric cancer care.

The foundation also runs a counseling program for bereaved parents, helping them find their own purpose. 'When you help others, you heal yourself,' she adds.

Impact and Legacy

Today, the Hope Foundation is a beacon of hope for thousands. Dr. Kumar's story is a testament to the human spirit's ability to turn pain into purpose. 'Rohan's memory lives on in every life we touch,' she says.
