Actor, filmmaker, and entrepreneur Ashish Lal has completed shooting for The Codpaster, a Hindi web series being positioned as the world's first fiction drama set in the world of podcasting. Produced by RedAsh Films, the series is currently in post-production. Ashish stars opposite Surbhi Jyoti, with the ensemble cast including Upendra Limaye, Zakir Hussain, Vidya Malavade, Durgesh Kumar, and Navni Parihar.
Plot and Inspiration
Set against the backdrop of the booming podcast industry, The Codpaster explores friendship, ambition, relationships, and personal conflict through a contemporary storytelling lens. An IIT Delhi alumnus, Ashish left a promising corporate career to pursue acting and filmmaking. He currently heads RedAsh Films and has appeared across television, films, and digital platforms.
Sharing the inspiration behind the series, which he has also written, Ashish said, “Though The Codpaster is set in the world of podcasting, at its heart it is dedicated to Vishal, my childhood best friend, whom I lost when I was around 15.”
