The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) launched a sharp attack on the Congress party on Tuesday over Rahul Gandhi's recent remarks about Lord Parshuram. The BJP accused the Congress of disrespecting Hindu sentiments, stating that while Gandhi may be considered a god by his party, he is not one for Hindus.
BJP's Reaction
BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra said, "For Congress, Rahul Gandhi may be a god, but for Hindus, he is not. Lord Parshuram is a revered figure in Hinduism, and any attempt to portray him in a negative light is deeply offensive." The BJP demanded an apology from Gandhi and the Congress party.
Rahul Gandhi's Remarks
During a recent speech, Rahul Gandhi referred to Lord Parshuram as a symbol of "violent extremism," drawing criticism from Hindu groups and the ruling party. The Congress leader has often been accused of making remarks that hurt religious sentiments.
The controversy has sparked a political debate, with the Congress defending Gandhi's right to free speech while the BJP calls it an insult to Hindu culture. The issue is expected to escalate as both parties gear up for upcoming elections.
