Gandhinagar: Minister of State for Health Praful Pansheriya announced on Friday that the Gujarat government has initiated the process of transferring 188 students from Dhanvantari Ayurveda College and Hospital in Mahisagar district to other self-financed Ayurveda colleges in the state. An official statement confirmed that the college's affiliation will be canceled for alleged violations of regulations.
Government Commitment to Students
Pansheriya emphasized that the state government is dedicated to protecting the academic interests of all students enrolled at the college, ensuring their studies and internships continue without disruption. “A proposal has been submitted to the Chief Minister, seeking approval to transfer the students to recognized self-financed Ayurveda colleges across the state,” the minister stated.
Background of the Decision
The decision followed multiple complaints and representations from students. In response, the government formed a three-member inspection committee to investigate the matter. The committee discovered that the college had been completely closed since September 2025 and recommended transferring students to other institutions to prevent their education from suffering.
Transfer Process
According to the government, the transfer process will be managed by Gujarat Ayurved University in Jamnagar, in consultation with the office of the Director of AYUSH and the Admission Committee for Professional Medical Educational Courses (ACPMEC). This coordinated effort aims to facilitate a smooth transition for all affected students.
