Empowering Rural Women Through Sustainable Dairy Production in Bathinda

A significant four-day training program titled 'Empowering Rural Women Through Sustainable Dairy Production' was conducted specifically for the Scheduled Caste community at the College of Veterinary Science in Rampura Phul, Bathinda district. This initiative aimed to strengthen entrepreneurship skills among rural women and enhance their knowledge of sustainable dairy practices, fostering economic independence and agricultural innovation.

Comprehensive Training and Equipment Distribution

During the intensive course, twenty women farmers from eight villages across Bathinda district received hands-on training and practical resources. Each participant was provided with a comprehensive training kit, which included a detailed compendium on sustainable dairy production written in the Punjabi language for better accessibility. Additionally, the kits featured essential dairy equipment such as 60-litre-capacity cream separator machines and 10-litre-capacity milk storage containers, along with other necessary inputs to support their farming operations.

Expert Guidance and Motivational Support

Pallavi Khajuria, the Course Director, actively encouraged the trainees to effectively utilize the practical knowledge gained during the program to maximize their profits and improve their dairy businesses. Kuldip Gupta, the Dean of the college, motivated the women farmers to maintain continuous liaison with the institution to benefit from various facilities available at their doorstep, ensuring ongoing support and resource access.

In a virtual participation, M Balakrishnan, Principal Scientist and Chairman of the SCSP Scheme at the National Academy of Agricultural Research Management in Hyderabad, highlighted the critical importance of such programs in uplifting rural women. He emphasized how these initiatives contribute to socio-economic development and sustainable agricultural practices within marginalized communities.
