Chandresh Kumar Yadav, State Secretary of the Women Empowerment and Child Development Department, explained that this year's program theme was "Give to Gain," which specifically aimed to recognize women over 60 years of age who remain active and self-reliant, contributing significantly to societal development.

Innovative Events Promote Health, Culture, and Justice

A unique Saree Pride Marathon was conducted in Dehradun by the district probation officer's office. Women participated by running in sarees, an initiative designed to promote dignity, confidence, and health awareness while simultaneously celebrating cultural traditions. Organizers emphasized that the event sought to showcase women's capability to excel in all areas of life while balancing family, work, and social responsibilities.

In a parallel development, Congress members organized a Nari Nyaya Yatra to draw public attention to crimes against women and to advocate for justice for those who have been wronged by the system. Additionally, a photography exhibition named Stories through Her Lens was inaugurated in the capital, featuring works by female photo artists, thereby providing a platform for women to express their perspectives through art.

Biodiversity Festival Concludes with Focus on Sustainability

The three-day Diverse Women for Diversity International Fest 2026 concluded at Navdanya's biodiversity conservation farm in Dehradun. Led by renowned environmentalist Vandana Shiva, the festival gathered 14 representatives from seven countries and over 150 women from nine Indian states.

Key activities included women farmers creating a symbolic "Garden of Hope" by sowing seeds and sharing "Breads of Freedom," which celebrated biodiversity, indigenous foods, and traditional knowledge systems. Discussions during the festival centered on crucial topics such as seed conservation, food sovereignty, and the impacts of climate change, underscoring the vital role women play in environmental stewardship.
