A case has been registered against an unidentified individual for allegedly killing two pet dogs in the Khandauri police station area of Agra, police confirmed on Monday.
Incident Details
The incident came to light on Sunday when the carcasses of two dogs were discovered lying in a vacant plot near Maa Santoshi Colony. Preliminary investigations revealed that both dogs, of the indie breed, belonged to a local resident named Sonia Devi. The animals were known to roam freely in the neighborhood.
Residents informed the police that a group of unidentified men had been seen in the area over the past two weeks. The dogs often barked at these men whenever they passed through the locality. Enraged by this behavior, one of the men allegedly caught hold of the dogs and repeatedly slammed them against the ground, resulting in their deaths.
Community Outrage and Legal Action
The incident has triggered widespread outrage among residents and animal lovers. A police complaint was lodged by Sonia, based on which an FIR was registered against the unidentified persons under section 325 (mischief by killing or maiming animals) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Khandauli Station House Officer (SHO) Kuldeep Singh stated that efforts are underway to trace the suspect. Legal action will be taken once the individual's identity is established.
This case highlights the growing concern over animal cruelty in urban areas and the need for stricter enforcement of laws protecting animals.
