A 38-year-old man has died from suspected severe dehydration as extreme summer temperatures continue to grip Palakkad district in Kerala. The deceased has been identified as Pratheesh, a native of Yakkara in Palakkad.
Postmortem Report Points to Extreme Heat Conditions
According to the official postmortem examination report, the death was caused by severe dehydration resulting from extreme heat conditions. Officials have confirmed that samples have been sent to a pathology laboratory in Kakkanad, Ernakulam, for further scientific examination to conclusively determine the exact cause of death.
Incident Details and Preliminary Findings
The tragic incident occurred on Wednesday morning when Pratheesh collapsed while on his way to a nearby river in Yakkara for a bath. Preliminary findings strongly indicate that dehydration due to excessive heat exposure led to his sudden collapse and subsequent death.
District Under Severe Heat Stress
With temperatures consistently hovering close to 40°C throughout Palakkad district, the weather department has issued a yellow alert that will remain in effect for four consecutive days. The district collector had previously warned residents to avoid direct exposure to sunlight between 11am and 3pm, when solar radiation is at its peak intensity.
