Woman Succumbs After Injection at Unregistered Hospital in Kaimur District
A tragic incident unfolded in Godsara village of Kaimur district late Monday night, where a woman suffering from high fever died shortly after being administered an injection at a private hospital. The facility, which was operating without official registration, has now been sealed by authorities, and the alleged quack running it has been taken into police custody.
Outrage and Protest Follow the Incident
The death triggered immediate outrage among family members and local residents, who gathered at the hospital and staged a vehement protest. The agitated crowd demanded swift action against the doctor responsible for the treatment. Police and administrative officials rushed to the spot to manage the situation and initiate an investigation.
Details of the Medical Negligence Case
According to the complaint filed by the deceased woman's husband, Dharmendra Paswan, a resident of Diyan village, he had taken his wife Ruby Kumari to the hospital in Godsara after she developed a high fever. During treatment, the doctor, identified as Arun Sharma, administered an injection to her. Within a short time, her condition began to deteriorate rapidly.
The doctor allegedly informed the family that her blood pressure had dropped and advised them to take her to another hospital for further care. However, when the family rushed her to the referral hospital, doctors there declared her dead upon arrival, escalating the grief and anger among her relatives.
Police Response and Legal Action
Following the incident, BDO Jitendra Kumar and SHO Hari Sharma took custody of the body and sent it for postmortem to Sadar Hospital in Bhabua. Later, DSP Pradeep Kumar also visited the site and carried out a detailed inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the death.
Police have registered an FIR based on the complaint filed by the husband, and the alleged quack has been arrested. During preliminary investigations, authorities discovered that the hospital was being operated without any official registration, and the individual was unable to produce any valid medical qualification certificates.
Broader Implications and Community Impact
This incident highlights critical issues related to unregistered medical facilities and the dangers posed by quack doctors in rural areas. The swift action by police in sealing the hospital and arresting the accused has been noted, but it raises questions about regulatory oversight in the healthcare sector.
The community's protest underscores the deep-seated concerns regarding medical negligence and the need for stricter enforcement of healthcare standards to prevent such tragedies in the future.
