LPG Cylinder Explosion in Yamunanagar Labour Quarters Leaves 10 with Severe Burns
A tragic incident unfolded early Thursday morning in Yamunanagar district, where an LPG cylinder blast sparked a fire in labour quarters, resulting in severe burn injuries to at least 10 individuals, including women and children. The explosion occurred at approximately 8:20 AM in Bherthal village, sending shockwaves through the community.
Victims Suffer Extensive Injuries, Referred to Specialized Hospital
All 10 victims were initially rushed to the civil hospital in Jagadhri for emergency treatment. However, due to the critical nature of their injuries, which involved 50-60% burns, they were subsequently referred to the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) in Chandigarh for advanced care. The injured include a diverse group, from infants to adults, highlighting the widespread impact of the blast.

Additional Injury from Wall Collapse
In a related incident, a seven-year-old girl named Anshu sustained injuries when a portion of a wall collapsed following the blast. Fortunately, her injuries were not burn-related, and she did not require referral to Chandigarh, receiving treatment locally instead. This underscores the secondary dangers posed by such explosions in residential areas.
Swift Police Response and Rescue Efforts
Upon receiving the distress call, SHO Tarsem Kumar from the Jagadhri Sadar police station promptly arrived at the scene. He played a crucial role in the initial rescue, using his official vehicle to transport some of the injured to the hospital. Government ambulances later joined the effort, ensuring all victims received timely medical attention. The police confirmed that the victims are from labour families employed in nearby factories, residing in the quarters within the village.
