Nagpur Running Clubs Transform Weekend Mornings into Fitness and Community Events
Nagpur Running Clubs Boost Weekend Fitness and Community Spirit

Weekend mornings in Nagpur have become more exciting than ever, thanks to the growing popularity of running clubs. Parks, streets, and lakeside tracks are now bustling with groups of young people who have discovered a new way to stay active, connect with like-minded individuals, and achieve their fitness goals.

Not Without My Community

Aishwarya Prasad, a product manager who previously focused on strength training, decided to try running despite initially believing it wasn't for her. "But things changed when I joined a running club," she says. "There comes a point during a run when your body feels tired, and if you are alone, it's easy to stop even when you are capable of continuing. In a running club, there's a target distance to cover, people encouraging one another, and a shared sense of purpose. You are motivated to keep going, and that support makes all the difference."

For many running groups, the idea originated from a simple belief that fitness is easier when done together. Priyank Dhage, founder of Rise N Run Club, explains, "As a professional table tennis player, fitness, discipline, and consistency have always been at the core of my journey. I realized that many people want to lead healthier lives but often struggle with motivation and consistency when they try to do it alone. A community makes fitness more enjoyable, accessible, and sustainable."

More Than Just a Run

Over time, these groups have evolved into vibrant communities that promote fitness through regular runs and wellness initiatives. "Our idea is to offer a complete Sunday morning experience rather than just a run," says Kunal Sharawat from Daud Le Club. "Typically, the morning begins with a group warm-up and mobility session, followed by a guided run with different pace groups so both beginners and experienced runners can participate comfortably."

Similarly, Raftaar Run Club regularly organizes social and wellness activities to keep the excitement alive among its members. "We have organized coffee raves, hosted yoga sessions, and introduced an ice plunge activity. After our runs, we sometimes play simple games," says Ankush Maitey, co-founder of the club along with Harsh Rahija.

Running Goes Mainstream

Club founders believe Nagpur's running scene is evolving beyond a fitness trend into a larger lifestyle movement. "The transformation has already begun. A few years ago, running was largely seen as an activity limited to serious athletes or marathon participants. Today, we are seeing students, professionals, entrepreneurs, families, and senior citizens actively participating in community runs," shares Kunal. Echoing similar sentiments, Ankush adds, "Many have gone on to complete half marathons and full marathons, and today running has become much more mainstream in Nagpur."

Shashwat Sakhare, a runner and Physical Education professional, notes, "I understand the importance of an active lifestyle. However, with increasing job responsibilities and administrative work, my own fitness routine was slowly taking a back seat. Participating in regular runs has helped me improve my fitness, reduce stress, and build consistency and discipline."

Priyank Dhage, co-founder of a fitness club, concludes, "Our mission is to create an inclusive space where individuals of all ages and fitness levels feel welcomed, supported, and inspired to take the first step toward a healthier lifestyle. We believe that when people move together, they grow together."
