In a significant step towards sustainable healthcare, Balrampur Hospital in Lucknow is set to inaugurate a 650 kW solar power plant on Tuesday, marking its 157th foundation day. The event will be graced by Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak and Minister Mayankeshwar Sharan, who will officially launch the project as part of the hospital's ongoing modernization efforts.
Celebrating Heritage and Trust
Hospital director Dr. Kavita Arya announced that this year's foundation day will be observed under the theme 'From Heritage to Trust', highlighting the institution's long-standing legacy and commitment to public health. The solar plant installation aligns with this theme by promoting environmental responsibility and reducing operational costs, ensuring better services for patients.
Impressive Healthcare Statistics
According to CMS Dr. Himanshu Chaturvedi, Balrampur Hospital treated approximately 35 lakh patients in its Outpatient Department (OPD) during 2025, underscoring its critical role in the region's healthcare infrastructure. This high patient volume reflects the trust placed in the hospital by the community.
Expansion of Dialysis Services
Medical superintendent Dr. Devashish Shukla provided updates on the hospital's dialysis unit, noting a significant expansion. The number of dialysis machines has increased from 6 to 15, with 14 of these machines operating under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. This enhancement aims to improve access to life-saving treatments for patients with kidney-related ailments.
The inauguration of the solar power plant is expected to reduce the hospital's carbon footprint and energy expenses, allowing more resources to be allocated towards patient care. This move is part of broader initiatives to upgrade healthcare facilities in Uttar Pradesh, with Balrampur Hospital serving as a model for integrating sustainability into medical services.
