In a deeply disturbing incident from Meerut, a mother continues to grapple with unanswered questions four months after being told her newborn had died. Kamlesh Devi, a 35-year-old resident of Jhindri village, alleges that her baby daughter vanished following delivery at the Ballia Community Health Centre, with hospital staff falsely claiming the infant was stillborn.
Delivery Turns to Disappearance: A Mother's Ordeal
According to family accounts, Kamlesh Devi experienced a normal delivery but lost consciousness due to excessive bleeding during the process. When she regained awareness, medical personnel informed her that her newborn had not survived. However, what followed has fueled suspicion and heartbreak: no body was ever presented to the family, and no official death documentation was provided.
"After gaining consciousness, I repeatedly asked for the body, and every time I was told the child was born dead. But they never handed me the body," Kamlesh Devi stated emotionally. "I visited the facility a couple of times in the last four months, but no information was provided to me. I firmly believe that the staff sold my baby. I want justice."
Family's Pursuit of Truth Gains Momentum
The case gained significant traction when Kamlesh's husband, Ramesh Kumar, returned from an out-of-state labor job and began rigorously questioning the circumstances surrounding their daughter's disappearance. "I was on a contract labor job and could not come earlier. But it was obvious that if the body was not handed over, the child was stolen. We heard it was a baby girl," Kumar explained.
The family escalated their concerns by meeting with district magistrate Avinash Singh, who has since promised a thorough inquiry into the allegations. "We met the district magistrate, who has promised an inquiry into the matter," Kumar added, highlighting the official response to their pleas.
