Patna Divisional Commissioner Chairs PMCH Review Meeting
Patna divisional commissioner Animesh Kumar Parashar presided over a crucial meeting of the PMCH Rogi Kalyan Samiti on Wednesday, focusing on a comprehensive review of hospital operations and ongoing infrastructure development projects. The session aimed to assess performance metrics and address critical administrative challenges facing the medical institution.
Impressive Patient Care Statistics Revealed
Detailed reports presented during the meeting highlighted the hospital's substantial healthcare delivery between June 1, 2025, and January 25, 2026. During this seven-month period, PMCH conducted an impressive 36,27,477 pathology tests and provided outpatient department services to 3,30,953 patients. The surgical department remained highly active, performing 7,914 major surgeries alongside 24,331 minor procedures, while emergency services managed 85,493 critical cases.
Infrastructure Expansion and Connectivity Improvements
Commissioner Parashar emphasized the ambitious redevelopment project designed to significantly enhance the hospital's capacity. "The comprehensive redevelopment initiative aims to expand the hospital's bed capacity to 5,462 beds," Parashar stated during the meeting. He issued specific directives to the project director to accelerate all pending construction work to ensure timely completion.
To improve patient access and mobility, the commissioner ordered immediate removal of encroachments along key routes connecting from JP Ganga Path and Makhania Kuan to the hospital premises. Additionally, he confirmed that the double-decker flyover connectivity project from Ashok Rajpath remains on schedule for completion by March of this year, promising enhanced transportation access to the medical facility.
Administrative Directives and Resource Management
On administrative matters, Commissioner Parashar issued several important instructions to ensure smooth hospital functioning. He directed BMSICL (Bihar Medical Services and Infrastructure Corporation Limited) to maintain uninterrupted supply of 378 essential medicines crucial for patient treatment. The Patna Municipal Corporation received instructions to conduct regular sanitation drives throughout the hospital campus to maintain hygienic conditions.
The hospital superintendent was tasked with conducting a thorough gap analysis of medical staff and equipment requirements. This assessment aims to identify and address existing vacancies in nursing positions and clinical roles, ensuring optimal staffing levels for quality healthcare delivery.
Standardization of Medical Protocols
The meeting concluded with a strong emphasis on procedural standardization across hospital departments. Commissioner Parashar directed implementation of comprehensive standard operating procedures for emergency departments to streamline critical care services. Additionally, he stressed the importance of strict adherence to referral protocols between PMCH and other medical institutions, ensuring seamless patient transfers and coordinated healthcare delivery across the region's medical network.
