Health Department teams in Kapurthala district continued the door-to-door phase of the Pulse Polio immunisation campaign on Tuesday, visiting 6,750 households and administering the polio vaccine to 1,947 children.
Campaign Progress and Coverage
Senior Medical Officer Dr Simardeep Kaur and paediatrician Dr Naresh Kundra confirmed the day's achievements. The door-to-door drive aims to ensure that no eligible child is left unprotected against polio.
On Monday, the teams had covered 12,710 households and vaccinated 4,234 children, according to district health officials.
Objective of the Campaign
The house-to-house immunisation effort is part of the broader Pulse Polio initiative, which seeks to maintain India's polio-free status by reaching every child under five years of age. Health workers are meticulously tracking coverage to identify and vaccinate any missed children.
Dr Kaur emphasised the importance of community cooperation, urging parents to ensure their children receive the vaccine. The campaign will continue until all target households are covered.
