Dengue Outbreak Strikes Tripura's Unokoti District
The Unokoti district administration in Tripura has launched an urgent response to combat a sharp increase in dengue cases detected across several villages. Health authorities are working tirelessly to contain the outbreak that emerged strongly during the past week.
Alarming Case Numbers Prompt Swift Action
Between November 11 and 17, health officials conducted extensive screening operations at the sub-division level. Out of 348 individuals tested, a concerning 96 people were confirmed positive for dengue fever. Currently, two patients are undergoing medical treatment for their condition.
The District Health and Family Welfare Society has responded promptly to this public health emergency. A specialized team of health officials has been deployed to the affected regions to implement critical containment measures. As part of their immediate response, authorities have established seven health camps to provide medical support and essential resources to affected communities.
Comprehensive Prevention Strategy Underway
Frontline health workers, including ASHA staff, are actively conducting door-to-door visits in affected areas. Their mission focuses on identifying and eliminating potential mosquito breeding grounds while simultaneously educating residents about effective dengue prevention methods. These dedicated healthcare professionals are also providing continuous monitoring and necessary follow-up care for patients who have tested positive.
Looking toward future prevention, the health and family welfare department has already developed a comprehensive plan for 2025 aimed at preventing further outbreaks across Unokoti district. This forward-looking strategy includes conducting regular household inspections to eliminate mosquito breeding sites, launching extensive public awareness campaigns, and performing systematic larvicidal spraying in high-risk areas.
