AIIMS Bhopal recently organized a health camp and awareness program under the theme 'Beat the Heat' to strengthen healthcare and protect communities from seasonal health risks. The initiative was conducted by the Department of Community and Family Medicine, with Dr. Kuldeep Gupta, Dr. Himani Raj, dietitians Nidhi Vaidhya, and Sachi Sonkar focusing on nutrition and lifestyle practices.
Health Camp on the Outskirts
The camp took place on the outskirts of the state capital, where residents were educated about the dangers of heat-related illnesses and simple precautions that can save lives. Doctors emphasized the importance of drinking sufficient water, avoiding direct sunlight during peak hours, and wearing light, loose-fitting clothes. They also explained how to recognize early signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke, enabling local residents to act quickly in emergencies.
Practical Advice and Community Response
Beyond immediate preventive measures, the program offered practical advice on first aid, balanced nutrition, and adopting healthier daily routines. The people responded enthusiastically, engaging with the medical team and appreciating the accessible, easy-to-follow guidance. This initiative reflects AIIMS Bhopal's ongoing commitment to community health and preventive medicine. By addressing challenges posed by extreme summer conditions, the institute continues to empower local populations with knowledge and resources that promote resilience and well-being, said an official.
