Lucknow: Over 50.4 lakh cardholders have availed free healthcare services under the Ayushman Bharat Scheme in Uttar Pradesh, with the state disbursing over Rs 13,315 crore, according to data released by the State Agency for Comprehensive Health and Integrated Services (SACHIS) on Tuesday.

Key Highlights of Ayushman Bharat in UP

Archana Verma, CEO of SACHIS, stated, “Ayushman beneficiaries in UP have availed treatment in 91.87 lakh cases, and claims worth more than Rs 15,140 crore have been raised.” She further noted that Bareilly recorded the highest figures, with over 1.83 lakh beneficiaries receiving treatment and over 3.72 lakh claims worth Rs 682.99 crore. Payments exceeding Rs 620.81 crore have been released in Bareilly.

Top Performing Districts

  • Bareilly: 1.83 lakh beneficiaries, 3.72 lakh claims, Rs 682.99 crore claims raised, Rs 620.81 crore paid.
  • Gorakhpur: 1.71 lakh beneficiaries, 3.59 lakh treatment claims, approved claims of Rs 591.25 crore, payments of Rs 539.56 crore.
  • Moradabad: Over 1.29 lakh beneficiaries, payments touching Rs 459.91 crore.

Verma also highlighted that Bijnor, Saharanpur, Varanasi, Bulandshahr, Meerut, Lucknow, and Kanpur Nagar reported extensive use of the scheme. Bijnor recorded claims exceeding Rs 486 crore, while Saharanpur and Varanasi crossed Rs 463 crore and Rs 449 crore, respectively.

Reasons for Success

The state government attributed the scheme's success to increased investment in medical colleges, modernization of district hospitals, and digitization of health services after 2017. These measures have significantly improved healthcare access and delivery across Uttar Pradesh.
