A private aesthetics clinic located in Vadavalli, Coimbatore, was temporarily shut down on Friday for operating without qualified experts to perform hair transplantation and for running without a proper licence. The action followed a complaint filed by the Indian Association of Dermatologists, Venereologists and Leprologists (IADVL) against the clinic.
Inspection Reveals Violations
Health officials conducted an inspection at the clinic on April 29 after receiving the complaint. The inspection report revealed that clients were being treated without a Tamil Nadu Clinical Establishments Act (TNCEA) Certificate. Additionally, the person present at the clinic had no qualifications to perform hair transplantation.
Notice Issued and Temporary Closure
Based on the inspection findings, a notice was issued to the clinic on Friday. A senior official from the district public health services stated, "The clinic has been temporarily closed. Meanwhile, they have already applied for the TNCEA certification, which is in process, and until then, the clinic will remain closed."
Clinic's Response
A representative of the clinic said, "We have made every effort to apply for the certification and are still in the process. We have shut down temporarily." The clinic will remain closed until the certification is granted.
